Individual Awards

The Individual Awards are presented by the Spatial Sciences Institute, SA Region.

The Individual Award categories are:

Education and Professional Development

This award is for practicing academics who have substantially and excellently contributed (through teaching, research, publication or professional activities) to the study and promotion of the field of spatial science.

Excellence in Spatial Education

For a teacher or facilitator who has made a significant contribution to the implementation of spatial technologies within the curriculum and community. The award acknowledges leadership not only in empowering students in the use of spatial technologies, but in supporting other teachers to acquire knowledge and skills.

Service to the Spatial Community

To encourage and commend those who provide exemplary dedication, effort and service to the spatial community, this award will be open to an individual or associate SSI member or an employee of a corporate member.

Young Spatial Professional of the Year

This award recognises a young professional who has made a significant contribution in the field and acted as a role model for others in the industry.

Spatial Professional of the Year

For a practitioner working in any of the disciplines of the spatial sciences
whose professional achievements are acknowledged by peer citation as
exemplifying the highest standards of excellence and ethical conduct.

Postgraduate Research Award

This award is for overall excellence in student endeavours across the spatial sciences, and will be judged on a student research project undertaken at two broad levels. This award is for research at the masters and PhD level.

Undergraduate/Graduate Project Award

This award is for overall excellence in student endeavours across the spatial sciences, and will be judged on a student research project undertaken at two broad levels. This award is for students undertaking projects at the degree, honours, graduate certificate and graduate diploma level.
