Industry Awards

The Industry Awards are presented by the Spatial Industries Business Association, SA.

Industry Awards are conferred on individuals or teams for excellence in a project applying or using spatial technology. Projects must have been completed within the last eighteen months and may be submitted from any organisation, including a private sector individual or firm, a government agency, an academic or research body or any other group.

The Industry Award categories are:

Innovation and Commercialisation

This award recognises the contribution of an individual or corporation to spatial science research and/or technical innovation. It may be conferred for a specific project, or for an innovative solution to a technical problem.

Land Development and Planning

This award recognises how innovative or unorthodox techniques, delivery mechanisms and/or methodologies in surveying, mapping, cartography, design, planning or processes has achieved exceptional outcomes

People and Community

This award recognises those companies, products or programs that make a collective difference to national and local issues and communities via 'grass roots' initiatives, and/or educational programs, services or tools that permit widespread adoption, use, understanding and access to spatially derived products and services.

Infrastructure and Construction

This award recognises those projects that have contributed to planning, designing and developing construction and/or infrastructure initiatives.

Environmental Sustainability

This award recognises how the spatial sciences help to resolve natural resource issues such as managing scarce water resources, water property rights, biota rights, salinity management or any issues in an environmental context.

Spatially Enabled Government

This award recognises a project that uses spatial information and technology to enable and/or improve government productivity, efficiency, service delivery and/or help government agencies integrate 'customer-centric' service delivery models. Only government agencies, bodies and/or instrumentalities (and may include a private sector partner) are eligible to receive this Award.

Small Projects Award

The small projects category can accept projects of any type, including the major categories mentioned above, and is intended to make available an award category for small projects or business which would find it difficult to compete with the effor required in large scale projects.
