Spatial Information Committee

Spatial Information Committee (SICOM)

The Spatial Information Committee (SICOM) provides a forum in South Australia for information exchange and discussion on all issues associated with spatial information. SICOM plays a significant role in the promotion of the applications and benefits of spatial information to all tiers of Government, industry, education and the wider community. Current membership comprises representatives from Local, State and Commonwealth Government, education, private industry through Australian Spatial Information Business Association (ASIBA) and the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI). This membership brings together a wide range of organisations involved in the spatial information industry and provides opportunities to influence spatial information development in the State. For more information on SICOM activities, visit the SICOM website.

Spatial Sciences Institute

Spatial Sciences Institute

The Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI) is the national body combining the professional disciplines of surveying, mapping, engineering & mining surveying, remote sensing & photogrammetry and spatial information. The national structure takes advantage of economies of scale and standardised administrative procedures. Service delivery, however, especially CPD, remains at the regional level to ensure the needs of members are best understood and met. The Spatial Sciences Institute caters for the professional people who make up the spatial information industry. It gives a voice to the members of the spatial science community in both the national and international arena.  The SA Region of the SSI presents seminars, social events, newsletters and provides networking opportunities for its members.  A calendar of events in SA can be downloaded from the SSI website.

Australian Spatial Information Business Association

Australian Spatial Information Business Association

The Australian Spatial Information Business Association (ASIBA) was formed in July 2001 and has quickly established itself as the leading voice for the spatial information industry private sector.  ASIBA is a National Association that recognises the important role of the regions through Regional Management Groups (RMG).  The South Australian RMG was formed in 2002 by local member firms to manage local issues and events.   The SA RMG provides networking opportunities, liaison with Government agencies / politicians and provides an opportunity for spatial businesses to meet and progress industry matters.
