Spatial Information Day and the Spatial Excellence Awards are organised and supported by South Australia's three principal spatial organisations:

Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute
The Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) is the national body catering for the professional people who make up the spatial information industry. The Institute gives a voice to the members of the spatial science community in both the national and international arena. SSSI was formed in July 2009, merging the organisations of the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI) and the Institute of Surveyors Australia (ISA) to create a unified national authority in Australia. SSSI exists to support and develop excellence in the profession by providing services, professional certification, leadership, advocacy and promotion across the disciplines of surveying, mapping, engineering & mining surveying, remote sensing & photogrammetry and spatial information. The SSSI is a national organisation with active regional and Commission groups delivering professional development services to members. The SA Region of the SSSI presents seminars, social events, newsletters and provides networking opportunities for its members. Visit the SA SSSI newsfeed site for the latest activities in South Australia.

Spatial Industries
Business Association
The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) represents more than 500
companies and organisations working in the private enterprise sector of
Australia’s and New Zealand’s growing and vitally important spatial
industry. SIBA campaigns to expand the spatial industry as a sustainable and
increasingly significant business sector in the national economy, with the key
purpose of building on existing opportunities in the private sector of the
industry so that it may prosper. SIBA is a National Association that recognises
the important role of the regions through Regional Management Groups (RMG). The
South Australian RMG was formed in 2002 by local member firms to manage local
issues and events. The SA RMG provides networking opportunities, liaison with
Government agencies / politicians and provides an opportunity for spatial
businesses to meet and progress industry matters.
